Trish Stevenson / Comment on this

I am honored that his painting was selected as part of the Bold Brush Competition's FAV 15% for May 2019! I am also honored that it was accepted to the Bosque Art Classic, judged this year by master sculptor Oreland C. Joe, Sr., member of the Cowboy Artists of America.  The 34th Annual Bosque Art Classic will open with a Special Preview Dinner on Saturday, September 14, 2019. It is then open to the public September 15 - 28th,2019. New this year is online purchasing being made available after the opening weekend.

The Classic is held at the Bosque Arts Center in the tiny town of Clifton, Texas. According to the Center's website: "Considered one of the “100 Best Small Art Towns in America,” Clifton has attracted such renowned artists as the late James Boren, the late Melvin Warren, Bruce Greene, Martin Grelle, George Hallmark, Tony Eubanks and George Boutwell. Many of those artists have exhibited or taught at the Arts Center." It has become a center for performing & visual arts, recreation and educational programs - bringing the arts to a rural area.

As Spring approaches they are gearing up for calving, a gratifying time of year as the hard work of winter results in baby calves bucking and playing in the pastures. As the little ones finally get tuckered out, they find a warm place to nap, not far from their protective mamas. I can't wait! Read More

Me and Mama

Trish Stevenson / 2 Comments

Spring is in the air and calves are on the ground and they are "simply irresistable" I liked the way this little calf was tucked right into his mama's hindquarters, watching me from a safe distance but still so curious. As always, black subjects can be challenging to paint but also fun exploring colors to bring out the form.

Like most baby animals, calves are a curious bunch and cute, of course. I love the fresh white face on this one, a"brockle face" as they are known. Available unframed, price includes shipping in the U.S.A. Please contact Trish for framing options or shipping out of the country.

Little Bold One

Trish Stevenson / 2 Comments

It's entertaining to me to watch a calf as curiosity overtakes fear and it ventures away from it's mama to check things out. Mama is never too far away, though. Part of the 100 for $100 series. Click here for more info.
